ST. CROIX — A man is facing contempt of court charges after reportedly violating a restraining order and showing up at his ex-wife’s place of work.
According to court documents, a call to 911 on the evening of January 15 requested police assistance at a store on Company Street, Frederiksted. Responding officers met a woman who said that Myron Fox, her ex-husband, had come to her workplace and caused a disturbance.
She said she was inside the store when she looked out the front door to find her ex-husband outside, cursing loudly. She opened the door to hear Fox threatening to shoot her. The woman said he also threatened to shoot her boss, who was standing nearby. In the face of his loud threats, the woman said she began recording a video of his behavior. Fox left shortly after.
The business owner corroborated the woman’s account of the incident.
Police were handed a copy of a restraining order issued by the Superior Court last August, which restricted the former spouses from getting within 250 feet from each other. The order also prohibits any acts of domestic violence between them, which includes the issuance of threats and/or harassment.
Officers went to Fox’s Tide Village home on January 30 to place him under arrest. He was charged with contempt constituting the crime of domestic violence and disturbing the peace as a crime of domestic violence. A hearing scheduled for Monday was continued until Wednesday by Magistrate Yolan Brow Ross.
