Shooting Outside Supermarket in Frederiksted Terrifies Shoppers, Leaves One Man Injured

ST. CROIX — A shooting outside the Plaza Extra West supermarket Monday night sent shoppers scrambling for cover as a gunman opened fire leaving at least one victim injured. 

According to the 911 emergency call center, which received notification of the incident at about 8:52 p.m., shots were fired in the parking lot of Plaza Extra West in Estate Plessen. A male gunshot victim was transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital via ambulance. The victim's injuries were not considered life-threatening, and he was listed as being in stable condition.

This incident is under investigation. The VIPD is asking on anyone with information about the shooting to call 911, the Crime TipLine at (340) 778-4950, or Crime Stoppers USVI at (800) 222-TIPS.
