Second Deadly Shooting in 24 Hours in St. Thomas: One Killed, One Injured Near Fort Pladsen

ST. THOMAS — One man is dead and another wounded following a shooting incident reported late Sunday night near Fort Pladsen, according to the V.I. Department.

On Sunday at approximately 11:49 p.m., VIPD's 911 Dispatch center received an alert from the Shot Spotter detection system, indicating multiple gunshots fired in the Fort Pladsen vicinity. The dispatch center also simultaneously received a call notifying that two males had been shot and were in urgent need of medical care.

Police units quickly arrived at the scene, finding two men who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) promptly arrived and immediately administered life-saving procedures. While one victim was swiftly transported to Schneider Regional Medical Center for further medical treatment, the second victim was pronounced dead at the scene by EMTs at 11:59 p.m., after failing to show any signs of life.

As of now, the identity of the deceased individual remains undisclosed, pending official notification to next of kin. The Major Crimes Unit of the Criminal Investigation Bureau is actively investigating this homicide. Police have not announced any arrests.
