U.S. Customs and Border Protection has announced the deployment of Global Entry Receiptless Facial Kiosks at the Luis Munoz Marin International Airport (SJU) in San Juan, Puerto Rico. These upgraded facial kiosks eliminate paper receipts and utilize mobile officer technology to expedite and streamline the experience for Global Entry members traveling internationally.
According to CBP, this initiative ensures national security and facilitates legitimate trade and travel, as well as reducing physical touchpoints and promoting a contactless processing experience.
Roberto Vaquero, Director of the San Juan Office of Field Operations, commented on the implementation, saying, "This innovative solution enhances our Global Entry program for both travelers and officers by reducing physical touchpoints, expediting member processing, and providing security benefits." The Receiptless Facial Kiosks utilize facial comparison and mobile officer technology to confirm traveler identity and make an admissibility decision without producing a receipt.
Interested travelers can apply for the Global Entry program through the Trusted Traveler Programs website. The non-refundable application fee for a five-year membership is $100, and applications must be submitted online. Once the applicant passes a background check, a CBP officer will conduct an interview at one of the more than 100 Global Entry Enrollment Centers, including one at SJU.
Moreover, the Enrollment on Arrival (EoA) is a CBP program that allows conditionally approved Global Entry applicants to complete their interviews upon arrival in the United States, eliminating the need to schedule an interview at an enrollment center to complete the application process.
While the goal of Global Entry is to expedite the process, members may still be selected for further examination when entering the United States, CBP said. Any violation of the program's terms and conditions will result in appropriate enforcement action and may lead to revocation of the traveler's membership privileges.
Luis Munoz Marin International Airport is a joint civil-military international airport located in suburban Carolina, Puerto Rico, and is situated three miles southeast of San Juan.
