Police Investigating Shooting Incident Near Junior High School in St. Thomas

ST. THOMAS -- Police officers are investigating a shooting incidents that occurred near a junior high school in St. Thomas.

According to V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima, on Tuesday at approximately 6:16 p.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center dispatched officers to Veteran’s Drive, near the pedestrian bridge in the vicinity of the Addelita Cancryn Junior High School, in reference to a reckless endangerment.

Officers traveled to the area and made contact with the complainant, who reported that someone in a black vehicle fired shots at his vehicle, causing damages, and fled the scene, Mr. Derima said. The Emergency Call Center subsequently received another call of a black vehicle with gunshot damage parked at Patriot Manor, and that several Black males exited the parked vehicle. The caller further stated that one of the males appeared injured. Officers traveled to the scene and found the vehicle, but did not locate anyone.

The V.I.P.D. is asking anyone with any information regarding this crime to contact police by calling 911, the Criminal Investigation Bureau at (340) 774-2211 extension 5579, or Crime Stoppers USVI at (800) 222-TIPS.

"Remember, if you see something, say something," said the police force.
