ST. CROIX — On Saturday at approximately 6:49 p.m., officers arrested 36-year-old Ronald Lopez of Castle Burke and charged him with carrying a firearm openly or concealed and simple possession of a controlled substance, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima has announced.
According to the release, Lopez was found with a firearm and marijuana in his vehicle during a traffic stop on the Melvin Evans Highway, near East Airport Road.
Unable to make bail of $50,000, Lopez was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections in Golden Grove pending his advisement hearing.
The V.I.P.D. said the latest arrest was part of the police force's V.I. Crime Initiative.
