ST. CROIX — A robbery that took place at the Kmart store in Sunny Isles has led to the swift arrest of a suspect armed with a pellet gun, according to the V.I. Police Department.

On the morning of October 10, 2023, at around 10:20 a.m., the manager of the Kmart store reported the incident to the 911 Emergency Call Center. He claimed that he, along with several other store employees, had been held at gunpoint by a male individual, who subsequently fled the scene with stolen merchandise.

Acting quickly, the suspect was tracked as he entered the nearby Champs Sports store. Responding police officers located and apprehended the man without any further incident. Upon arrest, the authorities discovered the stolen goods from Kmart, as well as a pellet handgun in the suspect's possession.

The arrested individual has been identified as 37-year-old Kevik E. David, who was subsequently charged with first-degree robbery.

Unable to meet the bail amount set at $75,000, David was taken to the John Bell Adult Correctional Facility. He is scheduled for an Advice of Rights Hearing at the Superior Court on Wednesday.
