One Man Injured in Early Morning Shooting Near Market Square, St. Thomas

VIPD says a man was shot in the upper body near Rothschild Francis Market Square just after midnight Monday, following a Shot Spotter alert in the Gamble Gade area. The victim was taken to Schneider Regional Medical Center for treatment.

A shooting in the early hours of Monday has left one man injured in St. Thomas. According to the V.I. Police Department, the incident occurred on August 11 at approximately 12:32 a.m.

The department’s Shot Spotter detection system alerted 911 operators to multiple gunshots fired in the Gamble Gade area. Responding officers arrived near Rothschild Francis Market Square, where they found a male victim suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper body.

The injured man was transported to Schneider Regional Medical Center for treatment. Authorities have not released additional details on his condition or possible suspects.

The VIPD is urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward. Tips can be shared with the Virgin Islands Police Department at (340) 774-2211, the Major Crimes Unit at (340) 642-8449, or through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Residents can also call 911 directly.
