ST. CROIX — A woman appeared before a V.I Superior Court judge Monday after being arrested on a DUI charge.
Jeannette A. Lingholm was arrested and charged on October 23 for driving under the influence of an intoxicating liquor.
Her arrest follows a report placed with the 911 Emergency Call Center to investigate an accident on the North Side Road.
According to the probable cause fact sheet, upon arrival at the scene, contact was made with two individuals — a man identified as the driver of one of the vehicles involved in the accident, and Jeannette Lingholm, who told investigators she was the driver of the other vehicle.
The male individual told police that while he was traveling eastbound on North Side Road, he observed the second vehicle driven by Lingholm swerve onto his lane. He said upon trying to avoid the collision, his vehicle collided with Lingholm’s vehicle causing damage to his right quarter panel and right rear rim.
Upon interviewing Lingholm, investigators noticed a strong scent of what appeared to be alcohol on her breath. Lingholm stated that while she was traveling westbound on North Side Road, the first vehicle came into her lane and struck her vehicle.
Due to the strong odor of what appeared to be an alcohol substance on Lingholm’s breath, her slurred speech, red, watery eyes and the unsafe conditions of the road, Lingholm was transported to the Ancilmo Marshall Command to be tested for DUI.
She failed all three tests as part of the standardized field Sobriety test. However, Lingholm refused to sign or take the chemical test and was placed under arrest, according to the probable cause fact sheet.
In court on Monday, a judge allowed Lingholm to post her driver’s license in lieu of the $1,000 bail amount to secure her release. Her driving privileges will be suspended for 90 days and she will have restricted driving privileges during those 90 days only to go to work. She is to report to the Office of Probation every Tuesday and is to have no contact with the victim or any witnesses in the matter pending trial.
