ST. CROIX — Police are investigating gunfire reported near the Vegetable Market on Queen Street in Frederiksted after a caller said someone had been injured and a blue SUV left the area at high speed. Responding authorities, however, did not locate a victim, and no one sought related treatment at Juan Luis Hospital.
The V.I. Police Department said the incident occurred Tuesday, July 21, at approximately 7:08 p.m.
The 911 Emergency Call Center received several calls reporting shots fired, while the territory’s gunshot-detection system generated multiple notifications from the area surrounding the Vegetable Market.
One caller reported that someone had been injured and that a blue SUV was seen leaving the area at a high rate of speed.
VIPD officers and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to Queen Street but found no victim.
Personnel at Juan Luis Hospital also reported that no one had sought medical treatment resulting from the incident.
The Criminal Investigation Bureau is continuing to investigate.
