ST. THOMAS — A 17-year-old male minor has died after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds during a June 30 shooting incident, the V.I. Police Department has announced.

The V.I.P.D. said it was notified of 17-year-old Janyi Barry's death on Sunday at 10:59 a.m.

The June 30th incident that led to the death of Barry occurred on 7th Street in Sugar Estate, St. Thomas, where a second individual was also shot, according to Glen Dratte, V.I.P.D. director of communications.

Mr. Dratte said emergency medical technicians responded to the scene where they found one man with a gunshot wound to the leg, while the other — Barry — sustained multiple gunshot wounds about his body. At the time, both men received treatment for their wounds and as of Sunday the male victim with the leg wound was in stable condition, Mr. Dratte said.

The matter is being investigated by C.I.B.'s Major Crimes Unit. The police force is asking anyone with information about this incident to send an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers USVI here.
