Minnesota Woman Wanted in Alabama on Identity Theft Charge Arrested in St. Thomas

ST. THOMAS — A Minnesota woman wanted on an identity theft to obtain goods and services charge in Alabama was arrested on Monday at around 5:00 p.m. in St. Thomas and charged with being a fugitive from justice.

The suspect, Crystal Renee Simmons, age 34 of Coon Rapids, Minnesota was detained at the Cyril E. King Airport by Customs and Border Protection agents as she attempted to board a flight, said Toby Derima, police spokesman.

Simmons has an active warrant from the Sheriff’s Office in Jefferson County, Alabama, wanted for charges of identity theft, obtaining goods and services. V.I.P.D. detectives were notified and Simmons was placed under arrest, Mr. Derima said.

She was turned over to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections without bail, pending her extradition hearing.
