ST. THOMAS — A Michigan woman who had not been given clearance to travel to the USVI after uneven fonts on her submitted Covid-19 test result document caused it to be flagged, was arrested Monday as she entered St. Thomas through the Cyril E. King Airport, according to a probable cause document filed in the Superior Court.

Police spokesman Toby Derima said the territory's Covid Task Force officers arrested Kayla Miller, age 20 of Roseville, Michigan and charged her with fraudulent claims upon the government, access to a computer for fraudulent purposes, use of false information, and filing or recording forged instruments.

Along with the fonts being mismatched, the entire document appeared to be generally off, Covid Task Force officers said, according to the probable cause fact sheet. Miller was unable to make bail of $5,500 and was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections.

When she appeared in court on Wednesday, Magistrate Judge Henry Carr III ruled that Miller pay $500 and return to Michigan.
