ST. CROIX — The Police Department on Wednesday reported separate robbery incidents on St. Croix, one which was said to have occurred on the Christiansted Bypass and the other at an establishment near the Sunny Isle stoplights.
Bypass incident
According to V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima, on Tuesday at around 12:03 a.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center received a report of a robbery that took place on the Christiansted Bypass, at the Scenic Lookout.
A man and woman were sitting in their vehicle, a red 2016 Toyota Corolla, when two males, dressed in all black and wearing masks, approached the vehicle. The victims heard the sound of gun shots. The suspects directed the couple out of the vehicle and departed the area with the vehicle, which contained cash and personal effects, according to the release.
The victims said the suspects were young (under 20 years of age), slim built, wearing black long-sleeved shirts and black masks.
Incident near Sunny Isle stoplights
Also on Tuesday, at roughly 10:28 p.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center dispatched officers to Galloway's, located near the Sunny Isle stoplights, in reference to a robbery.
The victim told police he was seated outside the establishment when two armed males pointed their guns at him and demanded money. The victim told the suspects he did not have money, so they subsequently took the victim’s jewelry and mobile phone. The suspects fled on foot, heading west, according to the news release.
The suspects were described as black males, about 5 feet 10 inches in height, slim built, possible age range in their twenties, wearing all black clothing with black face masks.
