ST. THOMAS — The V.I. Police Department is investigating a shooting that took place at Mandahl Bay Beach on Monday evening, leading to the death of a 23-year-old man.

According to the police report, officers were dispatched to the scene following reports of gunfire in the area at 6:46 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered Stalin N. Flores-Gomez suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel attempted to save him, but despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The VIPD said witnesses described hearing several shots fired before spotting a man lying on the ground. The area was cordoned off as detectives collected evidence and interviewed individuals who were present at the beach during the time of the incident.
