ST. CROIX — A St. Croix man wanted for cashing a check that he counterfeited turned himself in and was subsequently arrested by V.I.P.D. officers, the police force's public information officer, Toby Derima has announced.
According to police, on Tuesday at around 4:15 p.m., Jahmar Frederick, age 26 of Peters Farm, was arrested after turning himself in to police and charged with obtaining money by false pretenses, forgery, passing forged bills or notes, grand larceny and identity theft.
The investigation by detectives of the Economic Crimes Unit revealed that Mr. Frederick counterfeited a check, forged the signature of a business owner on the check and cashed it at a business.
Unable to make bail of $50,000, Mr. Frederick was remanded to the Golden Grove Detention Center pending his advisement hearing.
