Man Tells Police He Was Paid to Return Rental Vehicle Involved in St. John Shooting, But Refuses to Provide Further Details

ST. JOHN — V.I.P.D. officers on Wednesday at roughly 3:45 p.m. arrested Hasani Liburd, age 27 of Enighed, St. John and charged him with accessory after the fact in connection with the Tuesday shooting that left a man in critical but stable condition.

According to police spokesman Toby Derima, Liburd was observed returning a rental car used to flee the scene of a shooting in Cruz Bay on June 2. He stated that he was paid to return the vehicle to the rental agency, but refused to cooperate any further with detectives. He was placed under arrest for involvement in the shooting incident.

Unable to make bail of $1,000, Liburd was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advisement hearing.
