ST. THOMAS — Authorities from the V.I. Police Department on Sunday were alerted to a shooting incident in the Nadir area of St. Thomas that left one man with a gunshot wound in his right leg.
According to the report, a black male arrived at Schneider Regional Medical Center's emergency room, detailing an incident that had occurred around 12:00 a.m. that night. The victim claimed that while riding his bike through Nadir, he suddenly heard several gunshots. Startled, he fell off his bike but quickly remounted and fled the area.
Upon reaching his residence, the man experienced pain in his right leg. An inspection revealed blood, initially thought to be from the fall. However, closer examination, aided by a family member, revealed a gunshot wound in his ankle. The extent of the injuries is yet to be ascertained by the medical authorities.
The Criminal Investigation Bureau of the VIPD has taken over the case and is actively pursuing leads. The investigation remains ongoing.
