ST. CROIX — A man sustained gunshot wounds in the back and leg during a shooting incident outside the Domino's Pizza Restaurant in Golden Rock Thursday night, the Consortium can confirm.
Police spokesman Toby Derima said the 911 Emergency Call Center dispatched police officers to the scene at about 8:02 p.m. The shooting victim was transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital for medical care, where he was said to be recovering.
Police were seen at the location investigating after the shooting. They cordoned off a portion of the parking lot in close proximity to the restaurant, where investigators were observed gathering evidence, including marking areas where spent shell casings were found. Police also recovered a gun on the crime scene.
The shooting incident is yet another in a wave of gun violence that have blanketed the entire territory — including St. John, where a man was shot multiple times near the Caps Place bar in Cruz Bay this week. He was said to be in critical but stable condition Tuesday.
The police force is asking anyone with information about the Golden Rock shooting to send an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers USVI here.
