ST. THOMAS — A man was found shot in the Subbase area of St. Thomas early Wednesday morning, the V.I. Police Department has announced, prompting an ongoing investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB).
According to the VIPD, the 911 Emergency Call Center received reports of multiple gunshots in the Subbase area at approximately 2:11 a.m. Patrol officers were quickly dispatched to the scene. Upon conducting an initial inspection, they discovered a male victim who had sustained gunshot wounds.
The injured man was immediately transported to the Schneider Regional Medical Center by ambulance for treatment. His condition is currently unknown.
The Criminal Investigation Bureau has taken over the case and is conducting an in-depth investigation into the incident. Authorities are calling on the public for assistance in solving this violent crime.
