ST. CROIX — A man was rushed to the Juan F. Luis Hospital after being shot in the arm and leg in Grove Place near the Eulalie Rivera K-8 School on Tuesday, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima has announced.
On Tuesday at about 4:11 p.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center received a report of shots being fired in Grove Place near the school. The 911 Emergency Call Center later reported that a male gunshot victim was taken JFL via private vehicle, Mr. Derima said.
The victim told police he was driving on Grove Place Road and someone called out his name. Subsequently, an unknown person shot at his vehicle, hitting him in the arm and leg.
Officers on the scene found a vehicle with bullet holes and numerous spent shell casings, which were collected for evidentiary value.
This incident, classified as a first-degree assault, is under investigation.
