ST. CROIX — A man was pronounced dead on the scene after being shot several times in the area of Prince Street in Christiansted during the wee hours of Sunday morning, the V.I. Police Department has confirmed to the Consortium.
The VIPD said gunshots rang out in the vicinity of Big Masters Night Club, prompting a swift response from law enforcement after the 911 Emergency Call Center received a distress call at 4:21 a.m.
Upon arrival to the scene, officers were confronted with a grim sight—the mortally wounded body of a black male. Immediate medical assistance was sought, and emergency medical services (EMS) were promptly dispatched. However, their efforts proved in vain, as the victim showed no signs of life upon their arrival.
Authorities have identified the deceased individual as Robinson Ramirez Robles, a 29-year-old male who was identified by next of kin.
The investigation into this homicide is already underway, according to the VIPD. The scene has been processed by personnel of the VIPD's Forensic Unit, and the medical examiner's office has taken custody of the deceased victim for further analysis.
As the investigation progresses, law enforcement agencies remain tight-lipped about any potential motives or suspects involved in the case. The Criminal Investigation Bureau, led by Commander Naomi Joseph, is spearheading the inquiry.
