ST. THOMAS — The V.I. Police Department has announced that it is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Sunday morning near the Tequila Bar on Kronprindsens Gade.

According to the press release, the 911 Emergency Call Center was alerted at approximately 3:05 a.m. on Sunday by the Shot Spotter detection system, which reported multiple gunshots in the area.

Upon arrival, responding officers discovered an unresponsive black male who had sustained several gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) on the scene confirmed that the individual had no vital signs.

The identity of the victim is currently being withheld, pending notification of next of kin.
