Man Shot Dead in Downtown Frederiksted Less Than Two Days Before Festival Village Opens

ST. CROIX — A man was shot dead in the vicinity of the KFC Restaurant in downtown Frederiksted late Wednesday night, according to the V.I. Police Department — less than two days ahead of the official kickoff of the 2022-2023 Festival Village.

V.I.P.D. Director of Communications Glen Dratte cited a police report which stated that at 11:36 p.m. Wednesday, the 911 Emergency Call Center received several reports about the shooting.

Upon arrival to the scene, officers discovered an unresponsive black male lying in the middle of King Street in the vicinity of the KFC Restaurant, Mr. Dratte said.

EMS personnel arrived on the scene and determined that the victim, who had sustained several gunshots, had no vital signs. 

He was identified by next of kin as 44-year-old Bradley Maxwell.
