Man Serving Time in Atlanta Extradited to USVI to Face Charges in 2001 St. Thomas Murder

ST. THOMAS — A 46-year-old man incarcerated in an Atlanta jail was arrested and charged in connection with a 2001 cold case in which a St. Thomas man was shot to death near Market Square East.

The Virgin Islands Police Department said authorities placed Reynaldo Rafael Rivera under arrest on Saturday pursuant to an arrest warrant issued by a Superior Court judge after being extradited to St. Thomas.

Mr. Rivera was charged with first-degree murder in the killing of Kenric Troy Mason, who was shot and killed on Dec. 26, 2001 in the area of Market Square East.

No bail was set for Mr. Rivera, and he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advisement hearing.
