ST. CROIX — A man who met with a woman in a dark location in downtown Frederiksted in the vicinity of the Midre Cummings Park was ambushed by two armed men, beaten and robbed of an undisclosed amount of money, the V.I. Police Department has confirmed to the Consortium.
The robbery, which occurred on Monday night, was reported to officers stationed at the Wilbur Francis Command Center by the victim at about 11:23 p.m.
According to V.I.P.D. Director of Communications Glen Dratte, the victim met with a female at the location and was suddenly assaulted by the suspects who were described by the V.I.P.D. as being black male individuals, approximately 5’5”/5’7” in height and wearing black ski masks.
Meanwhile, after being beaten and robbed, the victim told police he saw the woman running away in the same direction as the suspects, according to Mr. Dratte.
The victim sustained no visible injuries and no weapons were reported during the robbery, according to the V.I.P.D. release.
“The detectives are currently investigating this robbery,” stated Asst. Police Chief Detective Lt. Marisol Colon, who went on to ask the community to provide any information regarding this alleged criminal incident.
