ST. THOMAS — A man answered to domestic violence charges in court after allegedly assaulting his ex-wife.
Officers were dispatched to Estate Nazareth on January 24 to respond to a report of a disturbance. They met with a woman who alleged that she had gotten into an argument with Bradley Wilson, her ex-husband. She says she told him that it was her turn to have custody of their minor children. However, he then reportedly turned up at her home and kicked each door to the residence in an attempt to gain entry. The home’s southern door was unlocked, and Wilson entered that way, walked up to the woman and reportedly snatched the phone from her hand while she was speaking to the 911 dispatcher, according to court documents.
He began walking towards the front door, and the woman says she tried grabbing Wilson’s shirt to prevent him from leaving, but he did not stop, continuing towards the exit while dragging the woman behind him. When he got to the door through which he entered the woman’s house, she says he stopped and dealt her a blow to her left cheek, which caused her to loosen her grip.
The children, she says, were present to witness this turn of events, and began screaming when they saw their father assaulting their mother.
Officers noted the woman’s red, slightly swollen cheek where she says she was punched.
Wilson was arrested and charged with simple assault and battery, second-degree burglary and disturbance of the peace — all as acts of domestic violence. He also faces grand larceny charges.
Wilson appeared in the VI Superior Court this morning for his advisement hearing.
