ST. CROIX — A man was found dead in a tub inside a home in Frederiksted Friday night, and the V.I. Police Department said it is investigating the matter as a homicide.
According to a V.I.P.D. release, on Friday at about 7:34 p.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center Dispatched officers from the Francis Command to a home in Frederiksted to conduct a welfare check on a male individual in Estate Two Brothers. The Emergency Call Center said a female had called stating that she was attempting to reach the individual but there were no responses, and that the door of the house was open.
The female then saw a police unit traveling westbound and flagged the officers for assistance, according to the V.I.P.D.
Upon arrival, the officers made a check inside the residence and discovered an unresponsive black, middle-aged male in the bathroom in the shower/ tub. "Foul play is suspected and the investigation is ongoing," the V.I.P.D. said. The police department did not provide details regarding how the male was killed.
The identity of the victim was being withheld pending notification of his next of kin who resides off island, according to police.
The case is being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Bureau's Major Crime Unit.
