ST. THOMAS — A man loosed gunshots in downtown Charlotte Amalie in an apparent road rage incident Friday morning, leaving the vehicle of the victim he fired after damaged by the gunshots, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima has announced.
According to Mr. Derima, on May 8 at approximately 8:25 a.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center dispatched officers to Market Square, Charlotte Amalie to investigate a report of shots fired.
The investigation revealed that an unknown person fired shots at a victim in what appeared to be a case of road rage, said Mr. Derima. The victim’s vehicle was impacted by gunshots, as well as a parked vehicle in the vicinity.
This case, classified as a third-degree assault, is under investigation, Mr. Derima said. Anyone with information that can assist police is asked to call 911, the Criminal Investigation Bureau at (340) 774-2211 extension 5556 or Crime Stoppers USVI at (800) 222-TIPS.
