Man Fatally Shot Near Gas Station in Sunny Isles Area, VIPD Says

Police say ShotSpotter alerts and citizen calls led officers to Gas for Less in Estate Diamond on Monday evening, where Emmett Bramble Jr., 41, was found wounded on the ground and later died at Juan F. Luis Hospital.

Police cordoned off the Gas For Less service station Monday night following a deadly shooting.

Gunfire near a Sunny Isles gas station left one man dead Monday night, after police responding to ShotSpotter alerts and citizen calls found him lying wounded on the ground near Gas for Less in Estate Diamond.

According to the V.I. Police Department, the incident unfolded on Monday at approximately 7:05 p.m., when the 911 Emergency Call Center received alerts from the ShotSpotter Detection System indicating that multiple rounds had been fired.

Police said those alerts were followed by calls from residents reporting shots discharged, along with reports of a man down in the vicinity of Gas for Less Gas Station in Estate Diamond.

When officers arrived, responding units found a Black male on the western side of the gas station, lying on the ground and bleeding from his body.

Emergency Medical Technicians also responded and transported the victim to Juan F. Luis Hospital for treatment. However, police said the man later succumbed to his injuries.

The victim was positively identified by next of kin as 41-year-old Emmett Bramble Jr.

The Criminal Investigation Bureau is continuing to investigate the shooting.
