Man Facing Several Charges in Connection With Nov. 2021 Incident, Including Kidnapping and Assault

ST. CROIX — V.I. Police Department officers on Friday arrested a man on several charges that could land the suspect in jail for a long time. The charges include kidnapping, unauthorized possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and first-degree assault.

According to V.I.P.D. Director of Communications Glen Dratte, on November 14, 2021, at 8:01 p.m. a concerned resident reported to the 911 Emergency Call Center that an unknown male individual was at her residence seeking help, covered in blood, and handcuffed. The victim told the homeowner that he was kidnapped and beaten, according to the V.I.P.D.

On Friday, November 18, 2022, at 9:00a.m., 37-year-old Lawton Prince was present at the Mars Hill Police Station Frederiksted with his legal representation. Prince was placed under arrest pursuant to a warrant signed by Judge Yolan Ross on November 4, 2022.   

He was charged with false imprisonment/kidnapping, first-degree assault, mayhem, unauthorized possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime of violence, and third-degree assault.

Unable to post bail of $75,000, Prince was remanded to the John A. Bell Adult Correctional Facility pending his advisement hearing.
