ST. THOMAS — A St. Thomas man is facing over 30 criminal charges after allegedly shooting at police who were executing an arrest warrant at the suspect's residence earlier this month, the V.I. Police Department announced Saturday.
Dorian Hairston, age 21, opened fire at law enforcement officers and barricaded himself at his residence in Estate Solberg during the afternoon of Oct. 12, while officers were attempting to serve the warrant, the V.I. Police Department said.
Hairston was eventually taken into custody without incident after a short standoff with both local and federal enforcement officers during an attempt to flee his residence, the police department said.
On Friday, Hairston who was already in custody, was charged with four courts of first-degree attempted murder, four counts of second-degree attempted murder, four counts of first-degree assault, possession of a firearm during a crime of violence, illegal discharge of a firearm, possession of a firearm during a crime of violence, first-degree reckless endangerment, aggravated assault and battery, possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession or ammunition, registration of firearms upon purchase from dealers, registration of firearms transferred from non-dealer, contempt of court, interfering with officers discharging their duty, destruction of property, and disturbance of the peace.
