Man Drives Himself to Hospital After Being Shot in Anna's Fancy

ST. THOMAS — A man told police on Friday night that he was shot in Anna's Fancy near Rosa's Bar, after which he ran to his residence, jumped in his vehicle and drove himself to the hospital where he was treated for two gunshot wounds but was said to be in stable condition.

That's according to V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima, who said police were dispatched to the Schneider Regional Medical Center at about 10:37 p.m. following the incident to speak to the victim.

According to Mr. Derima, the victim told police he was walking in Anna's Fancy in the vicinity of Rosa’s Bar when a dark colored vehicle drove by with its high beam headlights on. An occupant in the vehicle fired several shots at him. The victim observed he was shot and ran towards his residence, got into his private vehicle and drove himself to the hospital for treatment.  

The victim further stated that the vehicle that fired the shots after him sped away westward on Harwood Highway.  He said that he did not see who fired shots after him.  

This case is presently under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
