ST. CROIX -- A man lost his life during a vehicular accident on St. Croix early Sunday, which occurred near the Sion Farm Shopping Center on Centerline Road around the 5:00 a.m. hour.
The accident included two vehicles, a black car and a black Ford Explorer. The Explorer was traveling from West to East, and the car from East to West. Eye witnesses said the accident occurred near the first entrance traveling East to West to enter the shopper center area. The Ford Explorer was attempting to enter the shopping center's entrance when the black car slammed into the Ford Explorer, leaving the driver of the Explorer dead.
The accident resulted in both vehicles violently spinning out of control and winding up on the side of the road facing the shopping center. Both vehicles were badly damaged, with the car being totaled and the Explorer sustaining damage to the side and rear.
St. Croix Rescue, EMS, and VIPD officers were on the scene performing various duties. Traffic was blocked off from both directions as first responders investigated the accident.
