ST. CROIX — A St. Croix man was arrested Thursday morning after police said he fired a gunshot into his neighbor’s vehicle as she drove past him in a residential area, grazing the woman and damaging her car.
According to the Virgin Islands Police Department, the incident occurred on January 29, 2026, at approximately 7:49 a.m., when the 911 Emergency Call Center received a report of shots fired in the Estate Calquohoun residential area.
Responding detectives and patrol officers made contact with the victim, who reported that Cliffe Richards fired a gunshot directly at her as she drove by his vehicle. Further investigation determined that Richards fired a round into the victim’s vehicle using his licensed firearm.
Police said the victim sustained a graze from the gunfire and that her vehicle suffered visible damage. Authorities also noted that an 18-year-old passenger was seated on the passenger side of the vehicle at the time of the incident. Officers made contact with a witness who confirmed that Richards fired a gunshot into the victim’s vehicle as she drove past his car.
Authorities later contacted Richards, who was advised of his Miranda Rights. According to police, Richards stated that he felt threatened by the victim and fired one gunshot at her vehicle with his licensed firearm.
Richards was detained and initially remanded to the John Bell Adult Correctional Facility after bail was set at $100,000, pending his Advice of Rights hearing scheduled for Friday. At that hearing, Richards was permitted to post a $4,000 bond and was released into the custody of his sister.
His arraignment is scheduled for two weeks later.
