Man Caught on Camera Puncturing Tires of Vehicle Belonging to Ex-Girlfriend

ST. CROIX — A man was arrested Friday morning after being caught on surveillance camera slashing the tires of a vehicle that belongs to his ex-girlfriend.

Police Spokesman Toby Derima announced in a new release that Rupert Campbell, Jr., age 36 of Peter’s Rest, was arrested at roughly 8:07 a.m. on a warrant. He was charged with destruction of property, domestic violence.

According to the release, Campbell was observed on video surveillance in the parking lot of the Juan Luis Hospital, puncturing the tires of a vehicle owned by his former intimate partner, on September 17.

Campbell was not offered bail as per the territory’s domestic violence statutes, and he was turned over to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending his advisement hearing.
