Man Arrested on Unauthorized Possession of Firearm Charge After Row With Neighbor

ST. THOMAS -- Police on Dec. 2 arrested a man for unauthorized possession of a firearm after he brandished the weapon during a dispute with a neighbor, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima has announced.

Travis Mitchell, 49, of Estate Mandahl was arrested on Dec.  2 at 11:51 p.m.

The initial report stated that Mr. Mitchell, who does not have a license to possess a firearm in the U.S. Virgin Islands, brandished a firearm in a dispute with a neighbor. Officers contacted Mr. Mitchell at his residence, collected the firearm and placed him under arrest, Mr. Derima said.

Unable to make bail of $50,000, Mr. Mitchell was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advisement hearing.
