ST. CROIX — A 33-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a December 2025 shooting incident in Peter’s Rest, where police said ShotSpotter detected gunfire near Carlos Bar and officers found multiple spent cartridges on the roadway.
According to the V.I. Police Department, the 911 Emergency Call Center received ShotSpotter notifications on Dec. 13, 2025, at about 4:00 a.m. reporting shots fired in Peter’s Rest, Christiansted, in the vicinity of Carlos Bar. Officers who responded to the area found multiple spent cartridges on the roadway.
VIPD said a Criminal Investigation Bureau detective’s investigation determined that Turrel Thomas was the shooter in the incident.
On April 17, 2026, members of the Criminal Investigation Bureau, with assistance from the Special Operations Bureau and Intel Units, executed arrest and search warrants for Thomas. Police said a firearm was seized during the search, and Thomas was taken into custody.
Thomas was booked and was unable to post bail of $100,000. He faces charges of attempted murder and possession of firearm.
Police said Thomas was transported to the John Bell Correctional Facility pending his advice of hearing.
