ST. THOMAS — Police officers on Sunday at 7:00 a.m. were dispatched to Contant where a man was found with a laceration to the throat. The victim was transported to the Schneider Regional Medical Center via ambulance for treatment, according to police spokesman Toby Derima.
The victim identified Allen Samuel as the individual who assaulted him.
According to the release, on Sunday at approximately 5:09 p.m., police apprehended Samuel, age 46 of Estate Altona, and charged him with first-degree assault and use of a dangerous weapon.
Unable to make bail of $75,000, Samuel was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advisement hearing.
Chief Steven Philip of the VIPD St. Thomas/St. John/Water Island District, said, “Sgt. Dwight Griffith of the Criminal Investigation Bureau and his team followed up on citizens’ tips on the whereabouts of the suspect, who was found later that day. Community members are taking action and helping us to be a safer community."
