UPDATE: The second suspect, Jarius Penn has turned himself in.
ORIGINAL STORY: ST. THOMAS — The V.I. Police Department announced late Thursday that it has arrested a man who allegedly robbed an individual at the Bovoni Housing Community on Feb. 22, while a second suspect involved in the same incident remains at large.
According to the police department, on Tuesday, February 22 officers responded to robbery and met with the victim who positively identified both individuals involved in the alleged crime. During the incident, one of the two suspects pulled a firearm from his person while robbing the male victim of $3,000 worth of jewelry, according to the police report.
On March 2 at 5:00 p.m. detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau, Special Operations Bureau, and the Intelligence Unit traveled to the same housing community and arrested 21-year-old Jah’seem Morton without incident.
Morton was charged with first-degree robbery, possession of a firearm, aiding and abetting, first-degree assault, aiding and abetting, third-degree assault, aiding and abetting, among other charges.
Unable to post bail of $150,000, he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advisement hearing.
Jarius Penn, age 21 and identified as the other individual involved in the incident remains at large, according to police. The V.I.P.D. is seeking the community's assistance in locating Penn, who is 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighs about 135 pounds and frequents the Estate Pastory area.
This case is presently under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
