ST. CROIX — A 47-year-old man has been arrested and charged with first-degree rape in connection with an incident reported last October.

According to a V.I. Police Department report, detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau executed an arrest warrant for Jason Tuitt at 12:46 p.m. on May 22, 2024. The arrest took place at the Neighborhood Laundromat. Detectives informed Tuitt of the warrant, and he was taken into custody without incident.

The arrest warrant was issued following a report of rape on October 16, 2023. On that date, a minor individual was taken to a police station to report that she had been raped by Tuitt.

Bail was initially set at $100,000; however, he was allowed to pay $10,000 in May for his release while awaiting trial. According to court documents, prosecutors are now considering a plea deal.
