Man Arrested at Cyril E. King Airport After Discovery of Loaded Firearm Magazine in His Bag

ST. THOMAS — On Saturday at approximately 2:47 p.m., 20-year-old Khaliem Tang-Yuk of Puerto Rico was arrested at the Cyril E. King Airport and charged with possession of ammunition, after Transportation Security Administration (T.S.A.) agents discovered a loaded firearm magazine in his bag.

According to V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima, the 911 Emergency Call Center dispatched Virgin Islands Port Authority police officers and V.I.P.D. detectives to the airport regarding recovered ammunition. T.S.A. agents reported the discovery of a loaded firearm magazine with ammunition in a bag owned by Tang-Yuk. Tang-Yuk claimed he did not know how the magazine ended up in his bag; he was placed under arrest as a result.

Unable to make bail of $25,000, Tang-Yuk was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advisement hearing.
