Man Arrested and Jailed on Domestic Violence Charge Pending Advice of Rights Hearing

ST. CROIX — A Mount Pleasant man was arrested and jailed Wednesday pending his advisement hearing after allegedly assaulting a former partner leaving visible injuries on body, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima has announced.

According to the V.I.P.D. news release, on Wednesday at roughly 1:52 p.m., detectives of the V.I.P.D.'s Domestic Violence Unit arrested 18-year-old K’Jahni A. Rivera and charged him with second-degree assault, domestic violence; simple assault and battery, and disturbance of the peace by fighting.

Rivera allegedly assaulted his former partner causing visible injuries on February 22, Mr. Derima said.

Rivera was jailed without bail, as per the territory’s domestic violence laws, pending his advisement hearing.
