ST. JOHN — A man arrested last week for two burglaries is charged for two more break-ins on St. John.
Alan Beyer appeared in court last Friday, accused of burglarizing two business establishments. On Monday he was back in court, this time hauled before Magistrate Simone VanHolten-Turnbull, suspected of breaking into the Tap Room, in Mongoose Junction.
The owner of the business said that he closed up for the evening around 10:00 p.m. on Sunday December 24. When he returned on Tuesday December 26, he discovered $750 missing from the till. His staff members denied removing money from the cash register, and thus the owner decided to check the surveillance video.
Footage from the cameras showed someone climbing through a window just after 6:00 a.m. on December 25, removing cash from the register, and exiting the way he came. Police say the man also removed drinks from a refrigerator behind the bar.
Police were summoned to the Tap Room again in the wee hours of January 1. This time, they met with another part-owner who said that he was on the premises around 5:20 a.m. when he saw Beyer trying to gain entry through the vent.
On January 5, while he was in custody from the previous arrest, Beyer was charged with third-degree burglary, attempted second-degree burglary, and grand larceny.
Details of his bail conditions were not available at time of publication.
