Man Allegedly Assaulted by Suspect Who Attempted to Remove His Business's Sign and Leave With it

ST. THOMAS — A St. Thomas business owner told police he was assaulted by a man who attempted to remove his business's sign and leave with it. According to police spokesman Toby Derima, on Tuesday at approximately 7:03 p.m., officers were dispatched to Commandant Gade in downtown Charlotte Amalie in reference to the assault.

The victim reported that an unknown black male removed a sign from the front of her business and attempted to leave with it. In an attempt to stop the suspect from removing the sign, the victim was assaulted, Mr. Derima said. The suspect fled the scene, northward on Garden Street, on a white scooter. The victim received minor injuries.

The suspect is described as 24-32 years old, large build, around 200 pounds, and standing approximately 5 feet 7 inches in height. He was wearing blue pants and a maroon shirt, according to police.
