ST. CROIX — V.I.P.D. officers on Friday at around 10:00 p.m. arrested a man who police say admitted to forcing himself onto an intoxicated woman and raping her, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima has announced.
The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Rahmek Jackson of Guadalupe Terrace, was charged with first-degree rape and first-degree assault.
According to Mr. Derima, the victim reported to police that on Thursday night she was intoxicated from consuming alcohol at a party. The victim, who had also consumed marijuana edibles, according to police, said Jackson, who was at the party as well, took advantage of the situation and forced himself onto her and proceeded to sexually assault her.
Jackson admitted to police that he had indeed forced himself onto the victim and was placed under arrest, Mr. Derima said. After becoming sober, the victim is said to have realized what happened and filed a police report.
Unable to make bail of $100,000, Jackson was remanded to the Golden Grove Correctional Facility pending his advisement hearing.
