ST. THOMAS — The V.I. Police Department's Criminal Investigation Bureau has reported that a shooting incident, which took place on Rhymer Highway in the Donoe Bypass area and resulted in injuries to a male victim, is under active investigation.
The incident occurred at approximately 11:50 a.m. on Wednesday, according to the VIPD. The victim was operating a vehicle when an unidentified assailant opened fire, hitting the victim twice.
After the assault, emergency services promptly transported the victim to Schneider Regional Medical Center for urgent medical care. However, the victim has reportedly refused to cooperate with law enforcement in their ongoing investigation.
Authorities have not released any specific details about the assailant, who is now facing a first-degree assault charge and may also face additional charges of attempted murder and reckless endangerment.
