CHRISTIANSTED, ST. CROIX — Tragedy struck Company Street in Christiansted on Sunday as a homeless man's lifeless body was discovered on the sidewalk across the street from Divi Divi Fabric Store. The incident was first reported to the 911 Emergency Call Center at 3:17 am, when ShotSpotter technology detected gunshots in the vicinity.

Upon the arrival of law enforcement officers, they discovered the adult black male with multiple bullet wounds on various parts of his body. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were immediately dispatched to the scene, but the victim was pronounced dead on their arrival.

The victim was later identified as Milton Gordon, also known as Bobo, a homeless individual who was well-known to the community. Authorities were able to make contact with Gordon's next of kin at approximately 6:30 a.m. Sunday to notify them of the tragic incident.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and V.I.P.D. officers are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist in their efforts. The authorities have not yet determined the motive for the shooting.

Gordon was born on April 5, 1955, and was 66-years-old at the time of his death.

Community members have expressed shock and sadness at the killing of Gordon. The Collective Collaboration, an organization that works with homeless individuals in the area, released a statement saying, "It is the saddest day for TCCI FAMILY. He was relentless in his asking, but at no time did he steal or abuse anyone. All he did was ask. To murder him the way this individual or individuals did, mercy on them. We loved and care for him. Milton Gordon"

The tragedy of Gordon's death serves as a stark reminder of the importance of addressing the issue of homelessness and the need to provide support and assistance to those who are struggling.
