Homicide in Frederiksted Marks U.S. Virgin Islands' 32nd for 2023

ST. CROIX — A man who was shot multiple times on Queen and King Cross Street, Frederiksted Friday night, was pronounced dead at the Juan F. Luis Hospital early Saturday. The incident marked the 32nd homicide in the U.S. Virgin Islands this year, with an even split of 16 on St. Thomas and 16 on St. Croix.

According to the VIPD, upon receiving a 911 call about shots fired, responding officers arrived at the scene to find an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was promptly transported to Juan Luis Hospital, where he was  pronounced dead by the attending Emergency Room physician at 12:08 am.

The deceased has been identified as 43-year-old Elijah Abdula Jackson of Estate Whim. Preliminary investigations indicate that Jackson was at a bar when an assailant approached and shot him multiple times.

The VIPD is continuing its investigation into the incident and urges anyone with information to come forward.
