Frederiksted Shooting Caught on Video Shows Gunman Firing from Moving SUV; Three Injured

Video footage shows a suspect firing multiple rounds from the passenger seat of a dark gray SUV before speeding away. Three victims were transported to Juan F. Luis Hospital as investigators work to determine the suspect’s identity.

ST. CROIX — The V.I. Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that occurred Sunday afternoon in Frederiksted, leaving multiple victims injured.

According to VIPD Director of Communications Glen Dratte, the 911 Emergency Call Center received several ShotSpotter alerts and calls regarding multiple gunshots fired in the area of Veterans Shore Drive, near the Frederiksted Fish Market at approximately 3:15 p.m.

Footage of the shooting circulating online shows a man firing multiple shots from a vehicle. Another video captures the suspect in the passenger seat of what appears to be a dark gray small SUV, shooting as it speeds away from the scene.

First responders, including VIPD personnel, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Fire Department, and the Criminal Investigations Bureau (CIB), swiftly arrived at the scene to assess the situation and provide medical assistance. Three victims sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to Juan F. Luis Hospital for treatment. Two were taken by ambulance, while a third victim arrived at the hospital via private vehicle, Mr. Dratte said.

Authorities have not yet released details regarding the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The case remains active, and investigators are working to gather evidence and determine potential suspects or motives. 

The VIPD is urging anyone with information related to the shooting to come forward. Individuals can contact 911 or reach out to the Criminal Investigations Bureau to provide any details that may assist in the ongoing investigation.
